To be transferred to the Depths' meant you weren't coming back. All you could really hope for was that your execution would be quick.

The Prison Depths are an optional biome between the second and the third level.

The Prison Depths are the point of no return. Struggle too much, shout too much, fight too much... You'll be taken away into the depths. Even if you merely just stayed in your cell, you could find yourself here. The guards would not just leave you waiting in your cage for your death, either. The terrible guards would suspend you up in the air in a tiny cage, or torture you mindlessly just to watch you suffer. Whatever the case may be, soon it would be time for your execution. What little hope you had was that it would be a swift one, not one drawn out for days.

Access and exit[edit | edit source]

The Spider rune is required to access this Biome through the Promenade of the Condemned. An underground section only accessible by wall climbing in the Promenade leads to the Prison Depths.

There are two exits out of Prison Depths. Typically, the player will leave by the main exit, which leads to the Ossuary. With at least 1 BSC active, another door (always close to the Ossuary exit) can lead to the Ancient Sewers.

Gold and Iron cells[edit | edit source]

Three locked doors are found at the end of the biome, next to the the exit to Ossuary. Two are Iron Cells doors and contain loot in the form of a 2-item choice altar. If the player finds the Iron Cells key, which randomly drops from an enemy or secret in the level, they can choose to open one of those two and take (or recycle) one of the items inside.

The Gold Cells only carry one reward, which is a Scroll of Power. To obtain it one must find the Gold Cells key, which drops randomly from an enemy or secret.[1]

While keys will most often fall from killed enemies, they can spawn inside wall and floor secrets as well. Additionally keys can be found in enemies or secrets behind BSC doors, so that a 0 BSC stage may be unable to find a particular key.

The Prison Depths contain only one Power Scroll, locked behind the Gold Cells door.

In the table below, you will find the gear level and enemy tier of Prison Depths based on difficulty.

Boss Stem Cells rewards[edit | edit source]

  • 1 BSC: Exit to the Ancient Sewers
  • 2 BSC: Treasure chest
  • 4 BSC: Cursed chest

Chests and loot[edit | edit source]

  • There is always one treasure chest or a 2-item altar.
  • There is always one item in a hidden area requiring the Ram rune, and another requiring the Spider rune.
  • One cursed chest is found behind a 4 BSC door.

Shops[edit | edit source]

There are always two shops (weapons or skills), one of them being in an area requiring the Spider rune.

Exclusive blueprints[edit | edit source]

The blueprint for the War Spear and the Oil Grenade are exclusively found in Prison Depths as they are looted from Hammers.

Enemies[edit | edit source]

In the Prison Depths, you will find many dangerous enemies, such as Slashers and Lacerators. In addition, Maskers and Hammers could be considered the iconic enemies of this biome, with the latter never spawning in any other location than Prison Depths. On high difficulties, Knife Throwers and Rampagers appear, making this level even harder to navigate.

In the table below, you will find which enemies are present in the Prison Depths depending on difficulty level. For each enemy, any common, uncommon, rare or legendary blueprints they carry are indicated. When applicable, the minimum difficulty level for blueprint acquisition is specified in brackets.
