One of the first enemies the player meets, and the most resilient to attacks, these enemies are seen in many areas and can be deadly if encountered in large numbers. It appears to have crystalline structures or small plants on its back and body.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Its two attacks are a scratching attack that it deals when the player is close, and a lunging attack when the player is out of range of its scratch. Both can be dodged, and the lunge attack can even be crouched under if you're in the center of the path it jumps. It can't jump to other platforms using its lunge, and simply stops when it encounters the boundary.

Elite Zombies have no attack changes made to them, but attack faster and are even harder than usual to stun.

  • Lunge

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Zombies are the most basic enemies in Dead Cells. Their limited movement and range makes them easy to dispatch, however, they can deal significant damage in large numbers, specially if they use their Lunge attack in succession.

When dealing with zombies, pay attention to their attack patterns and retaliate accordingly by dodge behind them. Their telegraphed attacks have high start up, making easy to avoid or intercept.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In previous versions of Dead Cells, this model was recolored pink for Grenadiers and recolored for Host Zombie, and is currently recolored for Running Zombie.
  • Whenever an Elite enemy powers up, small Zombies will periodically spawn to attack the player.
